Where did the holidays go! I hope you and your family had a safe and happy Christmas and New Year.
With the first Semester of our new Certificate IV Music Business Training program kicking off in less than a month i thought it would be a great time to introduce our incredible trainers for 2012, with a mixture of new faces and established Music SA friends its sure to be a great year.
There is no substitute for experience. We have been so privileged over the years to have trainers at Music SA who have a wealth of experience in the music industry both as performers and behind the scenes - people who are actually doing it - who are willing to give back to the industry they love and help tomorrow's crop of artists, managers and bookers make their mark on the local and national scene.
It's my pleasure to introduce new Music SA trainers Taasha Coates, PJ Murton and Alice Fraser who will join established music industry professionals Rob Pippan and David Grice in delivering accredited training through Music SA in 2012.
I am so looking forward to meeting all our students and getting down to the business of music. There are still a few places available in our Cert IV and Cert III programs but time is running out - for more info visitwww.musicsa.com.au/resources/courses.aspx or call (08) 8218 8444

A three time Aria Award winner with her band The Audreys, Taasha Coates is proud to call SA home. As a songwriter, singer, pianist and ukele player Taasha has toured extensively in Australia performing at most major venues and festivals in addition to television and radio appearances. Prior to signing with ABC Music in 2006 Taasha was responsible for all areas of the bands career from management to bookings. She has continued this hands on approach to the bands career and it is these experiences in tour planning, marketing and business management that she brings to Music SA.
You may know PJ Murton from his many years as Manager of Hip Hop Act the Hilltop Hoods, being responsible for multiple Gold & Platinum albums & ARIA awards. What you may not know is that he is also an ARIA nominated Music DVD Producer/Director, Photographer and Management consultant of over 10 years experience. What PJ doesnt know about managing a band and taking them to success is probably not worth knowing - from business planning to negotiating endorsements PJ has seen it, done it and still wears the t-shirt.
Alice Fraser is at the forefront of an exciting new breed of entrepeneurs in the SA music scene. In the 12 short months since establishing her agency The Jam Room, Alice has booked over 250 original shows, developed a new Live Music Venue (La Mar Sundays), worked as Artistic Director and Logistics Coordinator for the inaugural KI Surf Music Festival, worked with Queenscliffe Music Festival, Stereosonic and Port Fairy Folk Festivals, looked after tour bookings for Laura Hill and The Bakers Digest and appeared in a movie. We cant wait to see what 2012 has in store!
Rob Pippan has worked in the Australian music industry since 1975 as a musical director, lead guitarist, songwriter, concert and record producer. Rob was founder and guitarist of The Zep Boys and regularly performs with Swanee, Russell Morris and The Brewster Brothers from The Angels. In the television arena Rob is songwriter for SEVEN'S ‘The Fairies". He is a Support Act founder and long term MUSIC SA and TAFE lecturer / trainer. Rob is signed to AC/DCs publishing label Albert's Productions and his albums with ‘Fairies' have received 4 ARIA nominations.
A sought after audio-engineer and producer, Dave Grice established Fat Trax Studios and City Dub Duplication in 1996 and later founded the innovative Look N Learn web based music tuition platform. Now manager and in-house sound technician at The Promethean music venue in Adelaide, Dave has a wealth of experience both in front of and behind the mic (and is a mean bass player given the chance) with extensive technical expertise. Dave has a passion to see people develop skills within the music industry and does whatever he can to help them achieve their goals.
As a songwriter, audio engineer and producer Matt Williams has over 15 years experience and a number one Australasian single to his name. Matt has toured extensively in Australia, Europe and the US in a remarkable career that includes recording and session work with some of the biggest names in music including members of The Doobie Brothers, Cheap Trick and Yes. Matt is now Studio Manager, Producer and recording Engineer at Fat Trax Studios, is an expert in Pro Tools and Sound Technology and a great dancer.
