Upcoming SA bands get a chance to play with Cold Chisel, +LIVE+, Robbie Williams and more through the return of Music SA and Adelaide 500’s Bands On Track initiative.

Bands On Track gives emerging SA bands the chance to support some of the world’s best bands on the stage at Adelaide 500’s 20th anniversary.

The 2018 competition opens today and SA bands can apply via the Bands On Track website. The competition will see two South Australian bands performing each night of the Adelaide 500 with six winners in total.

The Friday night includes Cold Chisel returning to set fire to the Adelaide 500 trackside for the second time. Under the banner of ‘Made In SA’, Cold Chisel has invited their friend Kasey Chambers. Joining them is the critically hailed South Australian rock outfit Bad//Dreems who won a spot in the 2014 Bands On Track competition and are now one of the must see acts of the night.

Saturday night will see one of the most potent alternative rock acts and concert attractions +LIVE+ perform with their original line-up.

While Sunday night sees UK Superstar Robbie Williams set to perform a special headline concert at the 2018 after race concert series.

Music SA’s General Manager Lisa Bishop was delighted that the Bands On Track partnership is returning for another year to support South Australian musicians.

“Coincidentally it is also Music SA’s 20th birthday and over the years the Bands On Track initiative has been a special partnership. This is a great opportunity for local artists to perform on such a large stage and thanks to the Adelaide 500 this tradition can continue.”

Previous Bands On Tracks winners have included familiar SA names like The Beards, Grenadiers, Horror My Friend, Wanderers and Koral & The Goodbye Horses.

Entries close on Dec 15 and winners will be announced on Jan 15.
