BAND BUZZ - Molting Vultures Debut at No 1

31/01/2006

As local Rock act The Molting Vultures (MVs) get set to launch their Mini Album next week, the recording as already entered the 3D Radio charts at the top spot.

Titled This won't hurt a Bit…, the 9 song offering will enjoy it's official launch on Friday February 10th at the Squatters Arms.  Joining the band on the night are The Ramonettes and things get underway around 9.30pm.

After setting up early gigs off the back of the Flesh Wound Demo as a 3 piece in late 2004, the MVs quickly became known for reviving memories of 'Rowley Park' with the song of the same name ("…I only went for the crashes").  As a result they got to play the Rowley Park Revival at Wayville Showgrounds in 2005.  Since that time, the MVs have added a Theremin and an extra band member on Farfisa (Adelaide music legend Mick Wilczek from The Wilczek Experience and Fiendish Cavendish, who has put down the sticks for the MVs to show that he has some other skills).

Tracks on This won't hurt a Bit... include a cover of the legendary Trashmen tune 'Surfin' Bird'- done to the specifications of the MVs, at breakneck speed, with a Theremin thrown in and with a bit of messy banter.  Its also includes 2 tunes from the original Demo, Rowley Park and Riot (the song Riot has also been included on the forthcoming Smashed Records compilation 'Payola 1').  So that leaves 6 songs that no-one had ever heard from The MVs before – except at gigs.

Grab a copy at Big Star Records or at the launch, with entry only $5.
