Things just keep getting better and better for Wolf & Cub. They've just won a 2006 Qantas Spirit of Youth Award (SOYA) in the music category.

SOYA is Australia's leading award for emerging young artists, rewarding creative talent with awesome career-boosting prizes, including $5,000 cash, $5,000 in Qantas flights, and mentorships with leading industry professionals.

Now in its 3rd year, SOYA '06 received tens of thousands of submissions from nearly 6,000 artists, in categories of music, words, pictures, moving pictures, industrial & object design, photography, fashion, and cooking. SOYA music mentors in the past have included multi-award winning producers Paul Mac, Matt Lovell & Magoo.

Wolf & Cub would like to thank Matt Lovell, SOYA Music Judge, as well as Sam Clode, Emily Collins & Jess Keeley from NOISE. ( www.noise.net ).

Next up for the band is a month of festival dates throughout December, including Sydney's Homebake (Dec 2), Meredith Music Festival (Dec 8), the Falls Festival in Tasmania (Dec 30) AND Lorne (Dec 31, along with a special peformance later the same night at The Espy...), and Beats on the Beach Fest in NSW, followed by a Japanese tour alongside Wolfmother in January.

The band will then head to the UK to support the release of their album Vessels in the UK and Europe on seminal UK label, 4AD (home to The Pixies, Dead Can Dance, Mountain Goats and TV on the Radio).
