‘Management in the Music Industry'

 

Wednesdays 7.00pm to 10.00pm

This unit covers the competencies required by artists managers to extend their clients professional and career development, and to promote their clients best artistic and career interests. The unit may also apply to artists own learning and development. Clients in this unit are the artists or acts represented by the manager.

 

Each week, a range of prominent music industry practitioners and business operators will work with students to:

 

1. Plan and maintain the management business

 

1. Manage clients artistic development

 

1. Manage clients business development

 

1. Plan & Maintain finances

 

1. Analyse and develop the market position of artists

 

1. Comply with legal requirements

 

1. Undertake promotions and business management

 

1. Ensure that clients work safely and are aware of their rights

 

 

 

Qualification:                 This course is a Unit of Study, which forms part of the complete CUS40301 Certificate IV in Music Industry (Business). When competence is demonstrated Statements of Attainment are issued for the following units

 CUSBAD18A  - Manage Artists and Their Careers

 

Entry requirements:        No formal qualifications required, however, demonstrated interest in entering the music industry as a career and/or music industry experience is desirable. No age restrictions.

Last day to enrol: Enrolment must be received by 5.00 pm 8^th October 2008.

Enrolment must be PAID IN FULL by 5.00pm 24^th September 2008 for Earlybird Discount to apply

Note - it is advised to enrol as soon as possible as there are 18 places only.

 

Payment:                       A deposit of $100 must accompany enrolment, due no later than 8^th October 2008.  Remaining is due no later than 30 days after payment of deposit.

 

Cancellation:                 Notice of cancellation is required no later than 10^th of October 2008.  If notice of cancellation is received after this date, payment received will not be refunded.
