Good management of events is a crucial ingredient for their success. How To Organise Your Own Music Event covers the principles of good event management with a specific focus on music events. The course will cover all areas of event planning and logistics. Students will be expected to organise, under minimal supervision and in collaboration with other students, a local music event.
Each week, a range of prominent music industry practitioners, event managers and business operators will work with students to:
- Define the concept of an event and their economic and cultural impact
- Seek out appropriate sponsorship of event
- Demonstrate financial control of event and budget
- Manage legal requirements and risk management
- Manage the logistics and co-ordination of the event
- Evaluate and report the event to appropriate organisations/individuals
Qualification: This course is a Unit of Study, which forms part of the complete CUS40301 Certificate IV in Music Industry (Business). When competence is demonstrated Statements of Attainment are issued for the following units

CUSGEN03A - Collaborate With Colleagues
Entry requirements: No formal qualifications required, however, demonstrated interest in entering the music industry as a career and/or music industry experience is desirable. No age restrictions.

Note - it is advised to enrol as soon as possible as there are 18 places only.
Payment: A deposit of $100 must accompany enrolment, due no later than 2nd July 2008. Remaining is due no later than 30 days after payment of deposit.
Cancellation: Notice of cancellation is required no later than 5th July 2008. If notice of cancellation is received after this date, payment received will not be refunded.
