This 4 week non-accredited course is designed as an introduction to Music Business skills for artists, managers and practitioners. Over 4 weeks participants will gain knowledge on revenue streams, booking contacts, promoters and career planning.
WEEK 1
Examine the role of bookers, promoters, managers.
Identify key contacts in SA
Each participant will compile a contact list of venues & bookers appropriate to their music/genre including names, phone and email
WEEK 2
Approaching bookers, managers and promoters.
Run sheets, venue contracts.
What is expected of bands performing at licensed venues
How to Promote your gig
WEEK 3
Copywright in Australia (How do I protect my music)
Mechanical royalties, airplay
Role of APRA, AMCOS and PPCA
WEEK 4
Sponsorship and grants
Short term career planning.
Qualification: Non-accredited.
Entry requirements: No formal qualifications required, however, demonstrated interest in entering the music industry as a career and/or music industry experience is desirable. No age restrictions.

Last day to enrol: Enrolment must be received by 5.00 pm 30th January 2008.
PAYMENT IN FULL must be received by 5.00pm 16th January 2008 for Earlybird discounts to apply. Note - it is advised to enrol as soon as possible as there are 18 places only.
Payment: A deposit of $100 must accompany enrolment, due no later than 30th Janaury 2008. Remaining is due no later than 30 days after payment of deposit.
Cancellation: Notice of cancellation is required no later than 1st of February 2008. If notice of cancellation is received after this date, payment received will not be refunded.
