about this course:
The purpose of this module is to provide learners with the knowledge related to the special marketing and promotion techniques of the music industry and to develop the practical skills in marketing music products.
Each week, a range of prominent music industry practitioners and business operators will work with students to:
- Explain the importance of promotion in the music industry.
- Explain the importance of advertising in the music industry.
- Describe the role of the media in the marketing and promotion of music products.
- Describe the role of radio in the marketing and promotion of music products.
- Describe the role of music video in the marketing and promotion of music products.
- Explain the importance of merchandising in the marketing and promotion of music products.
- Explain the importance of the print media in the marketing and promotion of music products.
- Describe the different approaches in marketing and promotion in the territories of Europe, Asia and the USA.
Qualification: This course is a Unit of Study, which forms part of the complete CUS40301 Certificate IV in Music Industry (Business). When competence is demonstrated Statements of Attainment are issued for the following units
CUSMAR01A – Promote products and services
CUSBMA10A – Determine publicity opportunities for an artistic event
Entry requirements: No formal qualifications required, however, demonstrated interest in entering the music industry as a career and/or music industry experience is desirable. No age restrictions.

Last day to enrol: Enrolment must be received by 5.00 pm 3rd May 2010.

Note - it is advised to enrol as soon as possible as there are 18 places only.
Payment: A deposit of $100 must accompany enrolment, due no later than 3rd May. Remaining is due no later than 30 days after payment of deposit.
Cancellation: Notice of cancellation is required no later than 7th May. If notice of cancellation is received after this date, payment received will not be refunded.
