courthouse carnival comes to clare

HATS Inc (Heritage Arts & Traditions) invites you to experience its first major event to be staged at the Auburn Courthouse Cultural Centre. Held during the October Long Weekend (on Sunday 2nd October), the Courthouse Carnival will make it the ‘must-attend’ event in the Clare Valley .

The Courthouse Carnival brings together all the elements of what HATS is about...Music, Arts, Traditions & Good Times... and is a taster for the style of larger quality cultural events they plan to present on a regular basis in the Clare and Gilbert Valley.

The magnificent Auburn Courthouse historic site will come alive for a whole day of ‘Carnival’ with two stages, Stable Cafes & Bar, Garden & Village setting, Courthouse concerts and a warm welcome to everyone. The Carnival will bring a world of entertainment to the Clare Valley with fourteen different acts taking to the stage during the whole day and evening with 14 hrs of entertainment.

Celebrating the Courthouse Carnival theme local, state and national artists in  an array of styles including Jazz, Blues,World Music, Acapella, Dance, puppets and poetry: Australia’s Queen of Boogie Woogie JAN PRESTON (Vic), KAZBAND playing exciting European village gypsy jazz, Legend of the Blues CHRIS FINNEN presents his acclaimed ‘Blues Man’ show.  The courthouse will tremble to the gorgeous sounds of the Adelaide SOUTH AFRICAN CHOIR & Zulu dancer extraordinaire MONDLI MAKHOBA. Award winning Flamenco music and dance group ARETI FLAMENCO will amaze and delight and Indian music from SILK ROAD will both sooth and mesmerise.

Other acts include the famous PRESTON’S HISTORIC PUNCH & JUDY puppet show and an array of talented local & regional artists including TUMBADRUM, TAMARISQUE, BOLD AS BRASS JAZZ BAND and acclaimed songwriter GEOFF DRUMMOND. Most artists will appear twice during the day. A children’s concert will be featured and both intimate Courthouse and Garden concerts presented. In the spirit of Carnival there will also be guest spots where YOU can participate with a song, story, poem or even a joke.

The Courthouse Carnival offers great value. A full day ticket is $50.00 with over 12 hours of non-stop entertainment. The carnival commences at 10am with a ‘Village Brunch’ and runs nonstop til Midnight.

The Carnival will feature Clare Valley & South Aussie food and beverages with a European & Mediterranean menu as well as  delightful ’Country Kitchen’. Food will be slow & tasty rather than fast and the Courthouse Carnival will be an eco-friendly event, minimising waste and packaging.
