news: eric bogle to launch new sa folk centre!

The Folk Federation of South Australia has bid adieu to its former home of 11 years in Thebarton and is ready to settle in to its new space in Prospect, in the Town Hall. They've dubbed their sessions at the venue "Guthrie's" (after folk legend Woody Guthrie of course), and have lined up another folk legend to celebrate its official opening on Saturday 4 February...

This fantastic night of music will headline Eric Bogle, he of 'The Band Played Waltzing Matilda' fame, with members of the ‘Bogleband’, namely John Munro, Pete Titchener and Emma Luker.

Eric Bogle is one of the folk community's favourite performers with a career spanning decades and producing some of the most cherished songs in the Australian folk music song book.

Song such as the aforementioned Matilda is a true Aussie classic, but greats such as 'No Man's Land', 'Leaving Nancy', 'Now I'm Easy', 'Shelter' and 'If Wishes were Fishes' are now beginning to rival Matilda for a place in the front pages of the Great Australian Song Book.

His songs have been recorded by the likes of Joan Baez, Mary Black, Donovan, Slim Dusty, John Williamson, Billy Bragg, The Pogues and The Furies, just to name a few.

This will be a great night of entertainment from this seasoned performer and a fitting way to kick off the new year and the Folk Federation's new life at Prospect.

The show starts at 8pm, with tickets priced at $30 (adult), $27 (concession and students) and $25 (members).
