spirit festival part of the fringe opening night fun
National Aboriginal Cultural Institute Tandanya presents the Spirit Festival 2012, from 24-26 February at Mullawirraburka - Rymill Park (next door to Tandanya).
South Australia's premier Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Arts and Cultural Festival is an annual FREE family friendly event held in the heart of the city and features the very best music, ceremony, cultural workshops, forums and visual arts.
A main concert on the Fringe Festival opening night, the Spirit Festival features Kineman Karma, Zennith and big bold and sexy star Ms. Casey Donovan. Saturday you can hear music from sun up to sun down with Glenn Skuthorpe, Eddie Peters, Tony Minniecon & Souled Out, The Casm Soul Band and new comers Beck Gollan and Ellie Lovegrove, with host Kevin Kropinyeri.
Get ready for the Spirit Dance Ceremony hosted by Frances Rings (Bangarra) on Saturday night from 7:30pm with over 60 dancers featuring traditional Inma to contemporary fusions of the past and future, young, old - this night of ceremony is going to dance up big. A night not to miss!
Sunday presenta a full day of music from Warren Milera, Jimblah, Rough Image, Corey Theatre, Caper, Black Diamond and the Ngarrindjeri Miminar Kaikian Choir with dance from Taikurtinna, Kuma Kaaru and Tal-Kin-Jeri, with host Matt Hein.
Closing the festival is Women Of Soul starring Emma Donovan with Evie J Willie and Miss Min on Sunday 9pm.
Workshops, forums, visual arts market, a writer's program and cultural demonstrations all feature throughout the Festival. The Spirit Festival is a FREE family friendly drug and alcohol free event come and share in the oldest living culture in the world - All welcome!
