New Artists 2 Radio: Get on Air Now!
Commercial Radio Australia has opened entries for the New Artist to Radio (NA2R), held at the Gold Coast on October 10.
Only unsigned acts who have not charted in the top 100 Australian National airplay chart can apply.
There will be three winners across three genres in the 2008 NA2R:
Pop
Rock
Adult Contemporary
The winners will be invited to perform at the 2008 NA2R showcase on Friday 10 October 2008 on the Gold Coast, Queensland. The showcase is an annual event that gives unsigned and emerging Australian artists an opportunity to perform live in front of key people in the commercial radio sector. This event is held on the same day as the commercial radio industry’s annual conference which ensures attendance by music and program directors from the major commercial radio networks.
The NA2R Showcase has been running for 7 years and has helped to launch the careers of artists such as Delta Goodrem, Thirsty Merc, Little Birdy, Jade McCrae, Kid Courageous, The Androids, and Sarah Blasko.
The winners will also receive a share of $150,000 worth of advertising airtime on four of the major commercial radio networks Australian Radio Network, Austereo, DMG Radio, and Macquarie Southern Cross Media. In addition, the four networks will choose a genre winner to add to their network play list for early 2009, and all finalists will be able to attend a workshop on how to maximize radio airplay and exposure.
The 2008 NA2R winners will receive a further benefit from MGM Distribution in the manufacture and distribution of their winning track. MGM will provide digital release for each winner via Itunes and submit the single to ARIA for single chart survey. VGM Media & Marketing will work with artists to design the single cover and CD art for distribution. VGM will also provide the winners, in each genre, with advice regarding media and tracking their songs at radio to ensure maximum exposure.
