About AusmusicSA Courses

Starting in February, and continuing throughout the year, Ausmusic SA is presenting their annual series of short courses designed specifically to teach you the tricks of the trade to give you the edge in the fascinating beast that is the music industry.

Courses offered for 2008 are:

  • Music Business Essentials (starts February)
  • How to Plan & Manage Touring Your Band (starts March)
  • Promoting Your Music (starts April)
  • How to Organise Your Own Music Event (starts July)
  • Management In The Music Industry (October)

The first course offered for 2008 is MUSIC BUSINESS ESSENTIALS, a four week short course designed to provide participants with the essentials for running a band – booking gigs and who the key contacts at venues and festivals are, run sheets, venue contracts, invoicing and GST, copyright and royalties.

All the courses feature prominent guest lecturers, including lawyers, publicists, venue operators, event and band managers – people who make their living from the music business – who are happy to share their skills and experiences to make your learning easier.

The venue for each course is the Boardroom of Music House. This is upstairs behind the popular Fowler’s Live nightspot on the corner of Morphett Street and North Terrace in the city. Some evenings will also be held at Radio Adelaide, North Tce in the city. There is plenty of parking nearby and a number of bus stops right outside the door.

If you book by the “early bird” cut off date, you’ll save on what is an already discounted rate. Book for 3 courses & save 10% from the overall full price. Should you decide to take your learning further, each 8 week course is nationally accredited through T.A.F.E. to Certificate IV level and form part of the Diploma in Music Business.

So whether you’re a seasoned veteran, or totally new to the game, these courses are sure to have something for you.

YOU HAVE THE MUSIC - NOW LEARN THE BUSINESS!
