SCALA's FOOM SCALA's FOOM Song Competition 2008
Budding songwriters, composers and lyricists have only until 30 June to submit entries in the 2008 Festival of Original Music Song Competition (FOOM) run by SCALA (Songwriters, Composers And Lyricists Association).
Founded in 1987, SCALA (Songwriters, Composers And Lyricists Association) is a South Australian-based non profit voluntary association which commenced the annual FOOM song competition in 1994.
Winners in Live, Demo and Master sections appear on a commercially available CD each year (distributed to radio stations and music industry personnel) whilst winners in the Lyrics only section receive a cash prize.
The competition and CD release has assisted the careers of a number of local songwriters including Sam Lohs and Susie Keynes from Fruit, Miranda Bradley from Fruit and Raw Honey, Heather Frahn , Kylie Cowling (Legless and Kaleidoscope) and many others. To date SCALA has issued 17 albums of original music with an 18th in production.
Entry forms are available from SCALA (see contact details at left).
You can also download the entry form and rules from SCALA's website: www.scala.org.au (payment online is available)
Entries for the Competition must be received by Monday, 30th June 2008. Results will be announced at the 2008 FOOM Final on the evening of Wednesday, 3rd September at The Governor Hindmarsh Hotel . |
