Esther Lamb’s "Five: Forty Five" is a careful blend between soul, country and pop. Each genre is moulded together to produce a quirky, punchy release that is complimented by an acoustic flow of music.

Lamb’s lyrical talent certainly resonates with her desired audience; the lyrics themselves are beautifully written and very well executed. The sharp vocals play an integral part in absorbing the listener and encouraging them to feel a part of her music.

I enjoyed the song “I Want It Back”, the thudding beats gave the song a personality which meant the guitar, complimented by Esther’s vocals, was an integral part of the melody. Hearing this song on a CD encourages you to want to hear it live, where it would certainly pack a punch. Simply, it is one of those songs that you just can’t help but tap your heels to.

The song ‘One Moment’ affectionately displays Lamb’s vocal capabilities. It is a song that widely delivers what can only be described as incredible vocal talent. This song was appropriately chosen for the collection. This is an artist who expresses flawless vocals in an ambience of clanging guitars.

Matt Fell and Josh Schuberth can certainly be given credit for their talents playing drums, guitar, bass and more. Their musical accompaniments are particularly notable as they allow Lamb to perform to her potential. The right mix has been created between the vocals and the melody, and it demonstrates why this recording will appeal to many. The EP, although only four songs, leaves you wanting more!

Esther Lamb’s Five: Forty Five is a great release; I have no doubt that if you catch this singer live she will deliver far beyond your expectations. Make sure you check your local gig guides for this one!
