Peterhead2007 LP The Spongiform Malformations of Peterhead

There's a breakneck momentum and instrumental prowess combined with dark, blistering sound and raspy vocals that's almost guaranteed to gain Peterhead a rabid cult following.
After messing about with homespun CD's the band's finally released its official debut album The Spongiform Malformations of Peterhead. It's well worth the wait if stylised noise and energy rather than straightforward musicianship is your thing.
"Spongiform," is fuelled by dynamic percussion, raw extremities, speedy rhythms, heavy distorted guitar, harshly screamed vocals coupled with dark lyrical themes. Peterhead's style on this recording is clearly aggressive with fairly technical guitar riffs, composite rhythmics, thoughtfully morbid lyrics and primitive low-pitched growling, grunts and snarls by Captain I and Penisfingers. This is ferocious music with fast drum patterns and a primal instinct.
Songs such as "Baby Not Another Baby," "Mummy What's a Peterhead?" and "In Love with an Arse-eater," are unlikely to appeal to mainstream tastes but it's the kind of guttural mayhem that's sure to appeal to people who like Spit-In-Yer-Eye and In-Yer-Face hardened rock music. "Spongiform" is unadulterated, vulgar, shocking, and confrontational material delivered by a band with a degenerative mind-set.
