2007 EP Nurse

Rejusa’s new EP “Nurse” is an extraordinarily confident record that crackles with high-tension, excitement and yearning.

It’s very much an ensemble piece with the whole band working in tight synthesis.  This is an album that should be easily enjoyed by all and that will definately be loved by many.

There’s no overstuffing on this CD. Its five tracks are just enough to provide a satisfying dose of rock stories, delivered in a rich sound that often makes Rejusa seem more mature that it really is. “Nurse” is largely a smoothed-out rock album which tenderly nurtures the chart-friendly hooks of 60’s beat and the epic guitar-work of 70’s prog-rock. Then it’s topped with cool chord changes, tight rhythms, churning guitars, pounding drums, monster riffs and simple production on layered songs.

It's a record full of straight-up good songs from a solid band. Lyrically, “Nurse” isn’t brimming with insight or eloquence but that doesn’t matter. Because for anyone looking for a bit of an adventure, Rejusa’s music is supremely accessible. While sacrificing nothing to compositional templates, this EP is remarkably listenable. Rejusa go straight for the jugular throughout and hit the mark without fail.

All five songs are equally good. There’s never the urge to skip a track and it’s easy to covet every sound that emits from the speakers because Rejusa’s songs make up one tremendous, collective entity that pushes all the right musical buttons.

“Nurse” is not a killer album but it is strikingly impressive. The only shortcoming is how quickly it's all over. Roll on the next album.
