uk/european tour

The Touch, an Adelaide based Dance-Punk band, are set to embark on a four week tour of the UK and Europe in May and June. The band is also holding a special fundraising show at The Promethean on Sunday April 24.

Kicking around the Adelaide music scene since early 2008, The Touch have slowly been building their reputation across Australia. Whilst not able to totally break through into the national consciousness, the band's achievements are not to be scoffed at with a ton of national radio play for their track ‘Shot’, playing the Adelaide Big Day Out, supporting Phoenix and doing several of their own headline tours.

It seems like the years of hard work might be paying off for the band securing a spot on The Great Escape Festival in Brighton, England. The Great Escape is one of the world's premiere music festivals for discovering new talent and is the same festival where Australian band The Temper Trap scored their big break a few years ago. In typical style The Touch’s path to the festival wasn’t the conventional one. Festival director Jon MclDowie was in Adelaide recently for The Fuse Festival when The Touch’s new and unheard demo was pulled from a box of unmarked CDs in an anonymous listening panel. After 1 minute listening to the song Jon was sold, seeking the band out and inviting them to play the event.

On the back of this invitation The Touch and their Manager (local Ross Osmon) began busily booking in overseas dates in England, Scotland and Germany. And if pulling together an overseas tour in less than four weeks wasn’t enough to keep them busy the band has also secured the services of Adelaide ex-pat Yama Indra (aka GLOVES) to produce the same new material that got them overseas in the first place. Yama was previously in Australian band Damn Arms and has since worked with bands like Cut Copy and Miami Horror.

But along with all this exciting news comes the harsh reality of a self funded tour of Europe, looking to set the band back around $20,000. To help raise money for their trip The Touch are holding a special All Ages fundraising show in Adelaide at The Promeathean on Sunday April 24th. With an intimate feel and limited capacity of 150 for the show, it will be something a little bit different for the band. Pre sale tickets are just $10 from Moshtix or $12 on the door.
