The Amcats Biography The Amcats
Genre: Blues, Rock
THE AMCATS began through the simple fact that Shane (guitar/vox) and Renee (drums) didn’t know a bass player. This did not deter them from grinding out some deliciously dirty garage rock in the chilly Adelaide winter. They enjoyed it so much they began to gig around Adelaide, making many friends & fans along the way.
Highlights have included opening for The Bellrays (USA), Die! Die! Die! (NZ), playing the Ignition showcase as part of the 2008 Fuse Festival, and being featured within the 10x10 film documenting the Adelaide music scene (directed by Norwood Cheek).
Enlisting the help of uber producer Matt Hills, they recorded, mixed, and mastered their debut ep ‘Go Amcats Go!’ over two days and released it in January 2008. It has since been featured on Triple J, and reached #1 on Three D Radios 20+1 charts, as well as receiving airplay across the Europe & USA.
“so much fun in a 1950's Happy Days way with their goofy interplay and shredding minimal grooves that you can't help but come back again and again.†– Spoz…
“undeniably ace†– NME
“A sound that usurps calculated musical proficiency and instead relies on rock telepathy†– Rip It Up Magazine
Our debut EP is now available exclusively at BIG STAR RECORDS (Rundle St, Adelaide), and will be on iTunes in the near future.
