Bakewell Street
Genre:Pop/rock
“Numbed full of good time, bittersweet, fuzzy brown cardigan edges and delivered with ease. John Butler Trio at their funkiest, Kings Of Leon at their most blissed out broken yodel, driven by the rhythm attack of The Strokes and Franz Ferdinand.†[Spoz’s Rant – www.spoz.blogspot.com]
“......unpredictable songs that go from soft and dreamy to dark and sinister and back again in the blink of an eye.†[Jimmy Bollard – dB Magazine]
Formed in late 2006, Adelaide band Bakewell Street have worked their way to becoming a favourite amongst Adelaide music fans over the past year. Ramblings synonymous with an all night booze haze, "Tonight is Profit, Tonight is Great" surely isn’t the piece of art that people tap to themselves on the way to work the morning after? The byproduct of time and inconsistency has offered up “Tonight is Profit, Tonight is great†– Bakewell Street’s 2nd offering. More confident, edgy, ballsy and well dressed than last week, and with a touch more stubble. “Tonight is Prophet, Tonight is Great†out later in the year. Touring in the summer.
Highlights over the past year include:
· Playing along side such bands as British India, Red Jezebel, Dardenelles, Special Patrol, The Inches, Plastic Palace Alice, S.I.G.I.T & Former Child Stars.
· Airplay on such fine radio stations as Triple J, Nova, FBi, RRR, Radio Adelaide, 3d.
