The Bovines Biography

The Bovines

Genre: Blues, Rock

The Bovines formed in the sleepy Adelaide Hills in late 2003, when three best mates, Chris Cox, Simon Foster and Angus James, decided to get together to kick out the jams, and subsequently destroy the possibility of any peace and quiet for their surrounding neighbours. They find it hard to sum up exactly what they sound like but it is probably best described as a home-brewed Bovines-bastardisation of rock and roll, a mishmash of influences both old and new.

Anyway, after spending the next couple of years playing around Adelaide sharing the stage with the likes of Betchadupa, Intercooler, Jape Squad and The Trafalgars as well as gaining a spot at Off The Couch's Freshabit at the 2006 Adelaide Fringe and a bit of airplay from local threeD radio with their demo, they decided to go about recording a few of their tunes. They were lucky enough to end up doing so with Alex Cameron, a friendly man with a good ear for a song, live to tape in Alex's living room. The resulting EP goes some way to summing up what the Bovines sound like in their native live habitat, and in the space of five songs manages to give the listener a pretty good idea of the Bovines’ sound with plenty of the rock and the roll, as short and dirty opener Medium Rare quickly attests, as well as more laid back songs like the Beatles-ish Summer Institutes.

The Bovines plan to support the release of the EP with shows around Adelaide before making their inaugural trip to Melbourne in the coming months, with some more recording due to occur towards the end of the year.

the bovines are:
Chris Cox (vocals & guitar)
Simon Foster (drums & vocals)
Angus James (bass & vocals)

The Bovines debut self-titled EP is released indepedently on June 26 2006.
