The British Robots
Genre:Pop/rock
[ARCHIVE]
We are The British Robots. We write pop songs. We trade instruments on stage. We’re about melodies and harmonies in smallish rooms with green tea.
We've been together for a little over two years, living and playing around Adelaide. We’ve made lots of friends and had a busy year. We earned first place in South Australia for 2009’s National Campus Band Competition. We plastered posters around the city for Adelaide’s short-lived Popsicle collective. Our single, Trickster, was featured in the upcoming film Coffin Rock. Brisbane's Rave Magazine quizzed us about our genre juggling. And Triple J’s Dom Alessio said he loves our duelling vocals.
They might be duelling because we live in each other’s pockets Especially after returning safe (if not somewhat shaken) from our Rudd-funded whirlwind east-coast tour. We’ve been laying down tracks in Chapel Lane Studios. We’ve been spilling cups of tea in the studio of the continually amazing Matt Hills. And all of this work will soon manifest in our (long overdue) self titled debut EP.
We’re not perfect. We can’t nail grant applications, we’re too introverted, we’re not super attractive, and we can’t write impressive bios. But we like to make big plans. We want to see and play to the world. We want to let our lives be about this thing we’re creating.
What people are saying about The British Robots:
“infectious hooks, coupled with the unhinged energy of lead singer Zoe Behan”
The Adelaide Magazine
“Their fun and boppy musicality truly demonstrated why they are a local act to watch. The transition between whimsical folk and edgy indie seemed effortless, firmly establishing that this youthful group have a sure sense of self and direction”
