Comrad64 Biography

Comrad64

Genre: Pop/rock

We're Comrad64, and this is our story...

We began as a duo, singer-songwriters James and Sean Hickey. The brothers, before things got serious, used to play a mixture of jazz standards and acoustic originals. Now things are serious, and we mostly have heaps of meetings to decide what musical equipment we should purchase from the trading post.

We have played numerous venues including the Grace Emily, Jive, Jade Monkey, and the Rhino Room. But our favourite gig was when we played down at Goolwa, and on the way back James' renault caught fire and we called the fire brigade. The little flame had gone out by the time they got there so we looked like a bunch of tossers but they were real nice and towed us to a near-by mechanic. Thanks McLaren Vale firies!

James Hickey's solo ep has had substantial radio play on 3d Radio, WOW FM and Coast FM in Adelaide, as well as Fbi FM in Sydney . The band is recording an EP in early 2006.

With the expressive vocals and lead guitar of James Hickey, and the smooth tones from Sean Hickey's trumpet ComRad 64 takes pop-rock to interesting and at times very non-rock realms of musical expression.

Influences

Some influences include You Am I, Blur, Custard, Lemonheads, Weezer, Oasis, Kinks and Ben Harper.
