Dirt Playground is an original Adelaide based progressive rock/psychedelic rock band that has gained a cult status within the live musical circuit, using a diverse range of musical influences to create a unique and powerful sound that takes listeners on an epic musical journey. They incorporate elements of the 60’s and 70’s and a unique blend of exotic influences from all over the world to create the signature sound they has separated them from the norm of the music scene and to create dense musical landscapes with the use of visual projections to enhance the atmosphere of their performances. At the heart of Dirt Playground is a desire to connect and engage with their audiences and take them on a multisensory musical experience.
The band split in June 2010 but has now reformed with three of its’ original members and two new members. It is the strongest line-up it has ever seen. The band consists of five members whose stage presence, coupled with their passion and persuasive execution of the lyrics and music, unites the listener to their journey.
From April 2009 to May 2010, Dirt Playground performed around Adelaide extensively with a very busy schedule. They also embarked on a national tour as part of the Scorcherfest Music Festival, playing in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney. The members of Dirt Playground are strongly committed to keeping true to their music and maintain a uniqueness and originality that is very hard to find in today’s mass marketing of music. They pay meticulous attention to creating music un-phased by the wants of the commercial world. It is in essence - music by the people, for the people.
Dirt Playground is taking music back to its dirty roots. The music is the band’s protest against the concept of the “mainstream.”.They seek to reach those on the same wavelength and wake others from their modern hypnotised state. Dirt Playground’s stand can be best summed up by the famous Timothy Leary quote “Think for yourself. Question Authority.”
