Not just an acoustic soloist, but an acoustic experience not to be forgotten.
With a striking and emotive voice complemented by acoustic indie/pop music with a hint of folk, Emily’s beautifully structured songs boast uncluttered arrangements with surprising little moments.
In a very short time Emily has managed to become one of South Australia’s most watched up and coming soloists - playing gigs at venues all around Adelaide. She also routinely performs as lead singer/guitarist of acclaimed rock trio Illicit Eve which has representation in Australia, USA and the UK.
Her debut solo EP ‘The Escape Plan’, supported by Arts SA was successfully launched to over 150 people @ JIVE on February 10th 2007, and has been described as beautifully crafted - with its outstanding, memorable and moving lyrics it is impossible to ignore Smart’s message.
Self-produced, ‘The Escape Plan’ has already garnered praise from industry professionals in the USA and Australia. Her sophisticated original compositions combine pop melodies with exciting rhythms and interesting quirks, while her lyrics communicate fragility, joy, interpersonal conflict, resilience and hope.
Discover and enjoy the timeless and hypnotic experience as Emily takes you through the emotional spectrum from joy, love, sorrow and despair in her debut EP ‘The Escape Plan.’

Here's a snippet from a review by the Independent Weekly:
"Romantically melancholy, pure and honest, Smart’s songs hauntingly flow in and out of light and shade... As emotionally volatile and as inherently fragile as a love letter, The Escape Plan is an engaging debut from a beautiful, original and compelling new talent who has the world at her feet."
