Esther's debut album launch is at the Jade Monkey, Adelaide on Thursday May 15th. Her album will be available through MGM/Green both online and in stores from mid June.
Esther Lamb has calmly crafted a catalogue of songs over the past four years and has performed her delicious music solo with guitar in both country Victoria, Melbourne and Adelaide. Whilst establishing a reputation for high quality live performance, Esther has received critical notice from her songwriting peers in the Australian Songwriting Association Awards in 2005, 2006 and 2007.
Recognising Esther as one of the state's emerging artists, Arts SA provided financial assistance for the release of Esther Lamb's debut album 'Listen for home'.
The album was produced and mixed by Chris Dickie (a Melbourne Producer known for his work with The Waifs, Jebediah, Augie March & The Fauves, amongst others). Chris brought together a host of talented session musicians to complement Esther's unique sound, including keyboardist Bruce Haymes (who tours with Renee Geyer), the FourPlay string quartet from Sydney, renowned local players Paul Jankovic(bass), Kahil Nayton (guitar) and Damien Eldridge (drums).
Esther's sound ranges from light pop to delicate jazz; from tales of a girl trapped in life's ?goldfish bowl? to a soothing lullaby which ironically questions materialism. No two songs sound the same and the CD takes the listener on a multi-textured journey.
'Listen for home' begins expansively with striking strings, but is carefully divided in half by the atmospheric tones of the track 'How Long?'. The last half of the CD draws the listener into quiet, mellow reflection.
