On top of the above achievements, they also added Giles Barrow (ex Exploding White Mice) and Suzy Ramone (ex Ramonettes) to the lineup and played the most gigs they have ever played in a calendar year.
The MVs started 2010 with a bang playing to a big crowd at the Mallala Hotel but have now settled down to writing some new tunes and working out some more old '60s Garage covers (both classic and obscure). The new tunes continue down the track of surf inspired garage punk that the MVs have made their trademark and the theremin will continue to hold court from time to time.
They are hoping to record all of the new tracks sometime in 2010. They have also written a historical account of the bands evolution for the DNA fanzine which will be found in the next edition to be released soon.
The next show for the MVs is back in the familiar surrounds at the Grace Emily Hotel with their brothers in arms, The Green Circles on Saturday, March the 27th. This gig has a theme to it as that weekend is also the start of the local football season and so to celebrate both bands will be wearing their local club colours and will be playing old classic footage behind the bands as they are playing.
There will be a guest MC on the night and prizes for punters who wear their local club colours (anything from a scarf, beanie, Guernsey, t-shirt etc). Prizes will include all sorts of band and football merchandise.
The MVs and the Green Circles are big SANFL fans and encourage supporters of local music and local football to join in the celebration on March the 27th. Both bands are known for the fun they bring to the show and this gig will be no exception. And expect the MVs to pull out some brand new tunes and, for the garage rock enthusiast, a couple of rare classics that have been screaming out to be covered by these screaming lovers of fuzz guitar and surf beats!
