The ReadyMades’ quirky blend of original songs reflects the band’s sense of fun and the ridiculous. “We like to play with genre and narrative and, well, we just like to play.”

Kate (guitar/vox) and Jo (drums/backing vox) met through mutual friends and often talked about the idea of making music together. After partying at the wedding 2006, they decided to make it happen. In November they got a call from Sam and arranged to meet before attempting a jam. “I’ll be the guy in the brown beanie”, Sam said. When they found the guy in the brown beanie in the front bar of the Grace Emily, he said, getting it right, “Let me guess, you’re Jo and you’re Kate”. They all got along like it was meant to be and the girls left saying, “Let’s hope he can play bass!” Fortunately he could and so The ReadyMades were born.

Since then, The ReadyMades have gigged regularly to steadily increasing and enthusiastic audiences. Their first gig was at the Crown and Anchor as part of the Fringe Fuse Festival in 2007. They also performed to an appreciative crowd for the Fuse Ignition Showcase in 2009.

The ReadyMades played at The Governor Hindmarsh for the Victorian Bushfire Benefit and have been invited to perform on Three D Radio’s Sound Lounge on June 12th later this year.

The ReadyMades have made two recordings. The first was a demo called Sunset Sessions made at Sunset Rehearsal studios with muso/engineer, Claye Hutchens (The Gels, Bastard Sons Of Ruination), and current EP Hook, Sinker and Line with Darren Hincks ("no more metal bands, please!") at House of SAP.

The EP was recently launched on 1st May at the Crown and Anchor, and you can enter MusicSA's Contest Corner for your chance to win a copy of it plus a badge.

The ReadyMades are making plans to record a full album next year and to tour the eastern states and regional areas.
