Spearheading Australia’s funk-revival movement, Solartricity fuses soul and pop with the grooves of yesteryear. They are part of the 'funk' showcase lineup of this year's Coopers Alive festival, playing with People Say and Mr Goodnight at the Promethean on Saturday 23 October.
Fronted by Georgina Aue (vox/keys) and featuring the talents of Liam Garcia-Hardman (gtr/vox), Marty Holoubek (bass), Joel Prime (drums) and Tim Irrgang (perc), they are rapidly making a name for themselves in Adelaide’s the ever-expanding music scene.
Recently the band completed their debut EP at Reid Jones’ Deep Blue Studios and are currently preparing themselves for a year of recording and touring around Australia. They are already established regulars at some of Adelaide’s premier live music venues (Rocket Bar, Supermild, Crown & Sceptre).
As part of Coopers Alive, Saturday October 23rd sees Adelaide’s favourite performing arts venue, The Promethean, play host to three of South Australia’s most in demand funk artists. This not to be missed evening features headliners, funk act People Say, Solartricity's pop/fusion soounds and Adelaide’s Neo Soul revolutionaries Mr. Goodnight.
In 2008 Music SA and Coopers Brewery partnered to create Coopers Alive, a professional development program for emerging musicians. From this foundation the festival has gone from strength to strength, highlighted recently by winning its second consecutive Australian Business Arts Foundation award.
