The Timbers’ explosive start in the Adelaide music scene is worthy recognition of this bands ability to marry exceptional musicianship with highly accomplished songwriting. Their style has a distinctive folk rock groove reminiscent of musical influences such as The Pogues, Iron and Wine, The Mountain Goats, and Mumford and Sons. In February The Timbers recorded their self titled 3 track EP with Emily Davis behind the desk. “These guys should be headlining folk festivals around the country” says Quiet Pop edition 4.
Their lively and passionate approach to performing and unique instrumentation is making them a “must see” act on the Adelaide live music scene. With loyal and enthusiastic fans growing with each gig, their reputation and fan base is ever increasing with their appeal not confined to a single age bracket.
The Timbers began their 5-week Friday night residency at the Grace Emily Hotel on 28th May with free entry to all shows with music starting at 9pm. The shows will be supported by their talented friends Little HEFTY (28 May), Simon Kelly (WA) (04 June), Alias and the Jams (Vic) (11 June), and Todd Sibbin & the Opposite Ends (18 June). The residency finishes with The Fridays (25 June) being a fancy dress night where you are encouraged to dress up as anything you want with a copy of their EP and t-shirt for the best (or funniest) dressed.
The Timbers will be using the Grace Emily residency to test new material before they hit the road in early August for their first tour including regional South Australia, Victoria and Tasmania. Plans are underway to enter the studio in September to record a full-length album and start highlighting the maps to plan the next tour.
