Adelaide roots and blues act, Gracewood, are gearing up to launch their debut album, Chapter One - Sound Pilgrim's Way.
The much anticipated album, which has been 18 months in the making, will be launched at the Queens Theatre (in an all ages show) on Saturday 29th January.
Established in 2005, Gracewood is a group of musicians with varied sources of inspiration, born out of many different circumstances, but together are unique, honest and driven by one belief. Music.
The five talented musicians create a distinctive and recognisable sound which has attracted success locally and on air. The talented quintet has established a reputation as one of SA’s exciting acts to watch. Their rock/roots style is driven by warm vocals, traditional blues melodies and true musicianship. Since their formation they have also added harmonica and double bass to their mix of instruments.
They have explored the SA live music scene vigorously, and are now ready to introduce their recorded work to the world.
“The album has been a huge project and we have pretty much made it with our bare hands. We’ve recorded it and produced it ourselves, fundraised the money ourselves and hand drawn the artwork,” said lead guitarist Brendon Dodds.
“It is something that is pure and defines us as a band and is what we are all about.”
Despite the timely process, the band are extremely excited (and nervous) about the launch event itself. The Queens Theatre will be transformed into an inspiring and arty space with professional sound, lighting and staging.
Lead singer Andy Petkovic explains “We’ve put so much into this album so we really wanted to give it the launch it deserves”.
Gracewood will be selling their debut album at the launch event. Tickets can be purchased for just $10 per person through Moshtix.
