Where There’s Smoke... there is generally someone trying to reconcile the challenges of love, work, family, drink, country....and the constant battle to squeeze the most out of life. Where There’s Smoke is a steely unit that will leave a hazy mix of  alt country, folk and rock in the air.

Songwriter Matt Ward draws inspiration for his songs from travels and encounters with people from the remotest parts of Australia's interior to the worlds biggest cities and back home. His varied musical influences include the country pop of The Cardinals, the folk ramblings of Dylan, the story telling of Mick Thomas and the classic drive of The Church. Where There’s Smoke’s songs are heartfelt, gritty, intriguing and catchy.

Since starting on Adelaide’s live music scene in 2009, Where There’s Smoke have written a stack of material and played shows across Adelaide’s live music scene including a couple of Semaphore Music Festivals. They ventured to play in Melbourne early last year and will be heading across in 2011 to promote the release of their new album. That’s right, the boys have recently recorded some of their goings on and their debut CD – recorded with Brett Sody from SodyPop Records in Norwood - saw then promoted as Feature Artist on Three D Radio and getting some good airplay on FBI radio in Sydney.

The CD will be launched at the Grace Emily Hotel on Saturday 15 January, with special guests Sydney outfit and good mates Harvey Swagger Band. Expect it to be a great night of no frills pub rock / alt country. Where There’s Smoke bring energy, story telling, and a willingness to take one for the team.
