Rock. Pop. The combination we have all heard before. Right? Wrong!
Amber Calling have been doing the hard yards in the local scene around Adelaide since 2005, as well as numerous trips to the East Coast. June 2008 sees the band release 'The Truth About Lies' via Tenspeed Music and Amphead Distribution. This catchy 5 track EP was recorded with the ever popular Darren Thompson (In Fiction, The Hot Lies )and boasts a fresh new look and sound, while at the same time not forgetting the band's punk roots.
Amber Calling have made a huge mark in their short existence with over 375,000 plays on Myspace and with a fan list in excess of 39,000, the band makes a conscious effort to communicate with their fans as ofetn as they can, and being proactive in their promotion.
But do they have the live show to back up these statistics? They sure do. Having shared the stage with some of Australia's finest such as Something With Numbers, The Hot Lies, and Grinspoon, as well as played the local stage at the Hurley Taste of Chaos in 2007 along acts Aiden, Rise Against and The Used - the band has already set a benchmark as to what is to expect in years to come.
Big plans are afoot...Two tracks from 'The Truth About Lies' are featured on the sampler 'Shout', with thousands of copies being strewn all over America in the coming months. Other projects set to be announced soon include an extensive tour and film clips for the singles 'My Fatal Mistake' and 'For Eternity', with a few big shows in between.
You can next catch Amber Calling live on Saturday 28th June at The Gov , as part of The Getaway Plan Tour, also with Closure in Moscow. They're also supporting Stealing O'Neal at their EP Launch at Fowlers Live on 26th July, with Delamere and Capulet. Both shows are All Ages.
In the meantime, 'The Truth About Lies' out now on Tenspeed Music (www.tenspeedmusic.net ), and the next single 'For Eternity' is set to launch around the country on 23 June.
