Heather Frahn is one of Australia's fine young arts acheivers and givers. She started playing guitar and singing 'by ear' at 8 years of age, then writing songs at 11 and finally came to the stage at just 14 years old. Since then Heather has released 5 EP's and 2 albums, and has performed throughout Australia in Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Canberra and regional SA, NSW and VIC. In December 2006 Heather had a successful tour internationally to Belgium in Europe performing in respected music clubs, folk clubs and cultural centers.
Since the age of 15 Heather has also performed and composed original music for South Australia's finest theatre companies which has led to writing for many youth arts and community cultural development projects incorporating radio, film, dance, theatre and sound installation.
Through her contributions in the music and arts communities, she has developed skills in many areas. Primarily, her solo career as a singer/songwriter/instrumentalist has gained much recognition, but her work also as a theatre/dance composer and sound artist, workshop leader and community artist have brought many positive outcomes.
Heather's motivation through the sharing and creation of music, is to bring enlightenment to her audiences, joy to the community around her and the opportunity to express humanitarian issues that we face in life. She is an amazing young woman who contibutes so much through the several creative mediums she usitlises, such as:
- Vocalist, songwriter and solo artist (bio, song samples, inspiration etc)
- Sound artist and music composer/performer (theatre, dance, film, installation, radio)
- Percussionist and percussion workshop leader
- String instrument player (guitar, lap slide guitar, irish bouzouki, mandola and double bass)
- Musical instrument inventor and conceptualist (“steel drum harp†and “hybrid baritone-guitar-bass†instruments)
- Graphic designer websites | cds and promotional material for musicians
- Event producer and manager for annual “feast of female voice†event
She was approached to record a track for Show Us Your Riffs and given the challenge to present something a bit different to her usual acoustic style.
