HEKTIC

This Adelaide-based Producer/MC has accomplished so much in a relatively short professional career. After 5 years, Hektic has produced for some of Adelaide’s finest Hip Hop pedigree including JAHMIN [Poetikool Justice], D.R.U.Z.E., SINTAX, A.B.Z., as well as his own crew, the New Empire Collective.  As an artist he has performed at many venues both local and interstate.

These include:
Jubilee Hotel (Brisbane), Club 77 (Sydney), Thebarton Theatre, Governor Hindmarsh, Westfield Marion Main Stage, West Beach Shores Complex, Adelaide Uni, Coopers Ale House, Seacliff Hotel, Cabaret Café, Lizard Lounge, The Basement, Isobar Nightclub, Duke of York and Adelaide infamous Cranker.

Hektic began producing in 2000, making dance, electro and experimental styles. He began MC’ing a couple of years later after realizing the potential to convey his thoughts and opinions while entertaining crowds and having fun. Over time he has become known for his energetic performances and the personal (and often humerous) insight prevalent in his songwriting. Relating to an Australian upbringing his lyrics reflect a more tranquil way of life as opposed to the gangster themes generally explored in American rap. He talks on subjects ranging from moving interstate and politics to eating disorders, youth suicide and depression.

2007 has been a phenomenal year for this taltented MC/Producer. Hektic has just returned from sellout shows in Brisbane and Sydney with more interstate performances in the works.  He will be releasing his highly-anticipated album The Outsider in September on his own label, Hektic Records.  It features a mix of tracks he has produced over the past few years, and includes features from Sintax, D.R.U.Z.E. and Linguistik. He is also working on a promotional “Street Album” which includes members of his crew, as well as some local and interstate guests including Tycotic (Sydney), ACIZM (Brisbane) and Nikolai (Adl).

The launch takes place at VIVA on Friday Sept 21st 2007.

Door Open 9pm. $10.00 Entry.
