JEFF DeBOAR
The music has expanded since Jeff deBoar spent time at Broadcast Studio last year.
He hasn’t entirely moved away from his low key acoustic alternative folk songs – two real beauties on his extended single are “Darkness” and “Captured Light” – but he’s also sounding like a folky version of the Beach Boys, and sounding like a new millennium version of Cat Stevens and Paul Simon. His authentic soulful vocals and rhythmic tunes’, reflect his love and passion for the ocean, life & the environment. Another fine folk-rock singer, from Adelaide home of the Audreys.
Jeff has had two constants his whole life having grown up in Adelaide's mid coast – music and surfing. These two passions combine to inspire his diverse body of work in songwriting and composition
He has been joined by his touring band, for the Fleurieu Folk Festival, which features, two astounding female vocalists Rachel & Kiri, who brings haunting harmonies to the performances as well as mellow bass and keyboard and percussion.
Together they create atmospheric whimsical moods... that suit Jeff's song writing & performance styles.
Jeff's song writing ability ranges through light hearted feel-good tunes, moving ballads, to crisp percussive sounds. Inspiration comes from his local coast, where the hills & vines blend into the lines of surf. Respected for his laid-back, cruising surf style, he avoids notoriety and seeks solace in a close communion with the ocean, getting naturally high as often as he can. His original song writing spans a wide range of genres with an blend of acoustic roots and folk rock. Performing regularly amongst the local surfing community he has produced a couple of home-grown EP's which have gained great responses from his audience. Jeff's song writing ability ranges through light hearted feel-good tunes, moving ballads, to crisp percussive sounds. Performances include, the Adelaide Fringe Festival, Garden of Unearthy Delights, Fleurieu Folk Festival, Francis Folk Gathering, Hwy Inn-Combie Room, The Surf Club Glenelg, The Acoustic Peacock, The Grace Emily, Crown & Anchor, regular gigs locally and interstate, art exhibition launches, coffee shops, cultural centres, celebrations within the surfing community. Jeff has a couple of EP's under his belt. He is working at present on his first studio album at Broadcast Studios, which expresses the broad range of his musical and life-styles. He wants the organic experience of recording live styled songs, that appeal.
“Jeff DeBoar is one smooth operator. Not only a great surfer on long and short boards, he is one of the most talented musos around, Jeff, Kiri and Rachael, put on one of the best gigs you could hear”-Australian Longboarder
