Genre:

After pouring loads of creative energy and attention into raising three kids and running a community Arts Company for fifteen years, Kathy Pike has decided to get back to her roots as a singer/songwriter.

Kathy is celebrating her re-emergence as an original performing artist with the album “Lullaby for a Restless Soul’, recorded and co-produced with her musician son Nat Pike.

“It was an absolute joy collaborating with my son on this project and the instant emotional connection and understanding I felt between us has transferred into a recording I am extremely proud of. My goal is to attract a multi-generational audience to my music. Authentic, well lived in songs have the ability to get under the skin of people of all ages and walks of life. I find that dynamic to be unbelievably exciting and is one of the reasons why I have come back to my music”, comments Kathy.

As a fifteen year old, Kathy picked up her first guitar after watching and listening to her older brother Rob play. Rob showed her how to play a few chords and she was ‘off and running’. A new passion had been born!

Greatly inspired by artists such as Joni Mitchell, Cat Stevens, James Taylor, Jackson Brown and Melanie Saffcer, she began composing songs at the age of sixteen and performing in bands around her home town of Adelaide.

Kathy’s music has been described as ‘raw and honest’ and her voice as ‘a blend of melodic beauty and emotional edginess’. Her music style fuses elements of acoustic pop, folk rock with whispers of jazz and soul.

In the 2010 Adelaide Fringe Festival Kathy enjoyed a sell out season of her show ‘Lullaby for a Restless Soul’ based on the songs from the album. The show was a multi-art performance with songs, stories and photographic images, directed, produced and co-written by Kathy.
