Genre:Acoustic, Folk, Pop, Vintage

A sweet voice lingered from the stage. It was Laura Hill, her performance was exquisite.” (AU Review, 2011)

“Laura's song writing comes from age-old traditions: this is no talent-show flash in the pan. The stark, soulful guitar murmured words that speak of intimacy and longing, images of a summer's day or the drumming of rain on a roof. But it's in her live show that the full range of her gifts becomes apparent. Laura's voice has the clarity of distilled water, at a whisper, in a cry... she carries a wealth of emotion and imagination without visible effort. She is the pitch-perfect chanteuse for whom conversation stops: evidence of the timeless idea that great art has a deceptive simplicity. It wasn't hard to make the connection that this was someone who'd felt the ocean, had loved and lost, and had spun the whole thing into threads of gold." (Jock Serong, Surfing World Magazine, 2011)

She's sassy, smooth and her new EP ‘The Guava Tree’ leaves you with a taste of summer on your lips.

This songbird’s musical story began after nearly losing her Mother to an illness. Laura saw in her recovery, then, satisfying her free spirit, travelled the world. Upon her return to Australian shores she decided to follow her heart, fuel the fire and take a skip down the musical path.

The path so far has seen Laura release a now sold out independent LP titled ‘Over My Shoulder’ (MGM) in February 2010. This record took her on consecutive national tours (including sold out shows in Victoria), and helped her become a key performer with South Australia’s tourism and development body Advantage SA. Honest and light-hearted, Laura’s stunning songs, natural sense of humour and flair for entertaining have seen her tour extensively and receive many high profile supports throughout Australia in 2011.

It’s with a certain poise and excitement that Laura launches ‘The Guava Tree’ nationally spring and summer of 2011–2012. With support from backing band The Tuesday Bandits and special guests including a string and brass section, ‘The Guava Tree’ oozes warmth and good times. The punchy single ‘Something In The Water’ sets the mood for a beach party on the foreshore, while ‘Mexico With Me’ invokes a feeling of swinging in a hammock and the many adventures life has to offer. The whole EP is melodic and well-crafted, highlighting Laura’s gift as a songwriter. Listening to ‘The Guava Tree’ is as refreshing as diving into crystal clear waters for the first dip of summer, it will not be long before Laura’s thoughtful and feel-good tunes stretch well beyond the shores of Australia.

So the next question is what are you waiting for? Pick yourself a fresh copy of The Guava Tree on iTunes or Bandcamp and celebrate summer!
