LeighStarDust

Genre: Pop/rock

LeighStarDust has been showing up fashionably late to performances since 1997. Between-song-banter is her raison d´être and her quirky poptastic mix of Casio and vocals has earned her many a dubious offer.

Her music has been described as “quirky home-made pop” and “good bath music” by people who know stuff. Her 2002 debut EP, ‘Manly Detectives’ sat at the top of local radio station 3D’s charts for several weeks, and in 2003, 2004 and 2005 LeighStarDust was voted Best Solo Performer (Female) by the readers of dB Magazine.

Her 2005 EP, They Make Good Pets (But I Don’t Have One) also received a dB Readers Award (Best EP Release), and achieved the number 6 spot in 3D's radio's yearly Top 100+1 chart. In mid-2005 LeighStarDust launched her new video clip for the title track of the EP, so watch out for LeighStarDust coming to a television screen near you! No seriously - she steals televisions to fund her music habit.

A 2005 Christmas present for LeighStarDust was the release of an album of Adelaide artists covering her work, titled If I Dress Up, A Tribute to LeighStarDust (Blank Tapes). 2005 was also dubbed the year of the ftp server with LeighStarDust and Michelle Koen setting up the LeighStarDust website at http://www.leighstardust.com. Go check it out, it's grouse, and features massive sections about Talking Boonie.

2006 activities for LeighStarDust included the addition of a drummer (the wondrous Bek), recording a new EP, performing at the 2006 Adelaide Cabaret Festival, making a guest appearance during the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra’s ‘Edge’ concerts and appearing on the soundtrack to a new Australian feature film, Shot of Love.

LeighStarDust will kick off 2007 by launching her third EP, titled 'Every Other Bumblebee'. She'll be ably aided in this by her fantastic new backing band, The Heart Suite. Members of the Heart Suite include the abovementioned Bek and the infamous Tim Whitt (of Central Deli Band fame). Also part of launch festivities will be 'Ma StarDust', showing us all where the StarDust began.

LeighStarDust continues to love earrings and hopes that you do too.
