Like Leaves

Like Leaves formed in mid-2007 when Daniel Varricchio (Guitar/Electronics/Vocals) and Patrick Saracino (Bass/Vocals), having previously been a part of free-form, jam-rock bands Headdress of Neon Flames and Bitches of Zeus, began collaborating with Ryan Manolakis, former drummer for ambient, art-rock act Mr.Wednesday. The group began with this power trio line-up and established themselves in the local scene, playing their brand of progressive psychedelic rock with bands such as No Through Road, Lady Strangelove, Skeletons, Swords and Morals of a Minor. In late 2008, Juliet Hunter (Violin/Vocals), previously of Artax Mission, joined Like Leaves and subsequently the group have honed their sound further, with her distinctive vocal presence and unconventional violin work adding yet more layers to their heady electric tapestry.
Throughout 2008, Like Leaves cemented their reputation as a strong live act, playing support slots for experimental musician Chris Corsano (U.S.A - Bjork's touring drummer) and free-jazz drummer Shoji Hano (Japan) as well as supporting Australian psych-rock acts Jarvis (Melb.) and Tame Impala (Perth). Early in 2009 Like Leaves played another successful support show for Tame Impala, as well as having the honour of performing as the backing band for Damo Suzuki, the vocalist from legendary 1960's German band Can. They were also hand picked to support the album launches of successful local acts Wolf & Cub and Leader Cheetah, where their limited edition hand crafted demo CD's were positively snapped up by eager new fans. Like Leaves are currently recording their debut album, to be released in late-2010.
