Mary Webb
Genre:Acoustic, Folk, Roots
Mary Webb is an acoustic/indie/folk singer-songwriter from Adelaide. With a background in classical, choral and a capella music, she is passionate about quality song-craft and has an ear for melody and harmony that go well beyond the boundaries of popular music genres. She began playing the guitar in 2003 so she could accompany herself and perform her own songs. In the years since, she has developed a unique style, and has matured into a souful performer. Late in 2008 she was spotted at the Grace Emily by Pete Murray who immediately offered use of his studio, so she began recording some songs there in January 2009. These were finished off at Timms Tunes with Sean Timms a short time later and are the demo tracks you can hear online. Mary has a diploma of Sound Production from SAE and has recorded a full-length album with Anthony Stewart at Red Brick Studio, which is soon to be released. With the success of her 2012 Adelaide Fringe collaborative show 'We as Art, We as Artists', Mary is dedicated to making music her full time occupation, involving solo, duo and trio performances (with cellist Jonathan Webb and on occasion percussionist Craig Atkins), collaborative projects, composing, arranging, and building community through music. Mary now lives between Adelaide and Melbourne doing just that. You can listen to her demo recordings online, stay updated about her gigs and projects via her facebook page, and keep your ears out for her debut album 'Forest Floor'.
