The Molting Vultures
Genre:Rock, Surf, Garage
The Molting Vultures are a dirty psychedlic/ surf/ punk band that likes to make some noise through a fuzzbox, bash the keys on the Organ and resort to a Theremin when they feel the need. This is a 6 piece band who like to make a bloody racket and have some fun while they're doing it.
The MVs stick to a tried and tested formula of surf garage punk tunes with strong links to the early garage bands like the Sonics, The Stooges, The Trashmen, Count Five and The Litter - as well as the bands that led the revival of these sounds such as Radio Birdman, The Fuzztones and Lime Spiders. They have previously supported Radio Birdman, Lime Spiders, Guitar Wolf and Mach Pelican and have also played with bands such as Sons of Lee Marvin, The Bakelite Age, Green Circles, All Flight Crew Are Dead and the Dust Collection.
The MVs have released 3 albums: 'This Won't Hurt a BIT...' in 2006, 'Get A Grip' in 2007 and 'Drop In and Go' in 2009. Get a Grip reached number 3 in the 3d Radio Top 100 plus 1 for 2007 and Drop In and Go reached number 1 for 2009. Drop In and Go has had world wide airplay on garage radio shows, including being album of the month in Rennes, France and Sante Fe, New Mexico. Their cover of The Hang Up was also included on the Off The Hip compilation, Antipodean Screams 2.
