Muscle Car Biography Muscle Car
Genre: Rock
Muscle Car deliver a high-octane injection of sex drenched glam-punk rock’n’roll. Fast, dirty and heavy, with strong melodies, these guys with leopard skin amps and rock moves aplenty are proving that great rock isn’t solely restricted to Scandinavia and the US. They’re a prime example of the original rock‘n’roll currently emanating from Australia and New Zealand.
Muscle Car was formed in late 1998 when Damien ‘Damo’ Kalinowski (ex-Stir singer and Bloodsucking Freaks drummer) joined forces with fellow glam rock and punk fan, Paul ‘Pablo’ Vainickis (ex-Resin Tree singer/guitarist). Shamus Baldwin, aka Rocker (ex-Sprawl) joined on drums and has stuck to the stool ever since. Following a succession of bassists, Nick Parker, aka Vulture (ex-All Flight Crew Are Dead, COPS and Glen & the Peanut Butter Men), joined in May 2000. With the ultimate line-up in place, Muscle Car have embarked on several riotously successful tours of Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney. The band is looking to tour interstate on an increasingly regular basis, whilst a tour of the UK and Europe looks to be on the cards in late 2004.
Previous releases include; the “Sandra Sully†CD-EP (May 2001); a now sold out independent split 7†with fellow Adelaide rock merchants, The Gels (November 1999); and a 3-way split with The Blurters and Community Cervix on Badtown Records. Several different Muscle Car tracks have also appeared on a number of compilations the world over, such Tee Pee Records ‘A Fistful of Rock ‘N’ Roll - Vol.6’, and the band has recorded songs for the soon to be released New York Dolls and Zodiac Mindwarp tribute albums. A new CD-Single, “Single as Usualâ€, will be released in August 2003. With all this going on, the band have themselves securely fastened in for a helluva kickass rock n roll ride.
