Olivers Army have been grappling with the Adelaide music scene for roughly two years now. In a city that makes it almost impossible to get bodies through venue doors, they have somehow managed to charm enough people to consistently fill the rooms they grace; a feat rarely achieved in Adelaide and one they're very proud of.
Could it be musical talent? Perhaps their unmistakable-irresistible charisma? Or maybe audiences just pity them but commend their overwhelming enthusiasm? Hmm... I guess you'll just have to find out for yourself.
One thing is for certain, a lifetime of cleverly concealed reflective brooding whilst still maintaining a jovial persona has made Ryan Oliver's music both intensely personal and deeply reflective whilst bursting with exciting live energy.
With the release of their debut self titled EP receiving rave reviews from around the Adelaide scene and abroad, Olivers Army released their second collection of works 'II' (two) in February 2011. Reminiscent of the experiences gained by Ryan whilst traveling through Canada and North America, the record features folk and country roots influenced by the strong alternative-country scene in Toronto, Canada, whilst still remaining true to their evident Rock influences comparable to a mix between Band of Horses, early Coldplay, Crowded House, Boy and Bear and Bon Iver. They are currently working on a third record to be released mid to late 2012.
