Billed as 'The World’s Greatest Spaghetti Western Apocalyptic Folk Blues Singer' Tristan is a singer/songwriter hailing from Adelaide.

A seasoned performer, Tristan’s shows are captivating & endearing. Tall tales & heart-on-sleeve story-telling built around a tradtional song-writing ethos draw upon both modern & historical themes. Whilst mainly performing with just an acoustic guitar & vocals, Tristan is a multi-instrumentalist who also uses Ukulele & Banjo for his performances.

Tristan's songs have a predominantly Country sound with hints of Folk & Rockabilly, featuring strong story-telling elements in the vein of Townes Van Zandt, Johnny Cash, Hank Williams & Paul Kelly.

Prior to taking on this solo guise Tristan performed under the banner of 'Self Preservation Society'. Also a solo outing, SPS explored the 'lives' of many different & sometimes troubled personas, with songs drawing on the infuences of Nick Cave, Tom Waits & Bob Dylan. Adaptable & versatile, Tristan has also fronted a rock n roll band, 'The Flying Squad', who gained noteriety for their energetic live shows with musical influences from 50s rock n roll, country & more.

Since stepping out as a solo artist Tristan has been selected to play in successive Semaphore Music Festivals & at the acclaimed Fleurieu Folk Festival. He has also conducted numerous song-writing workshops, is a respected music reviewer, features regularly on Adelaide Radio, incuding 5AA, Radio Adelaide & Three D Radio, & plays frequently around Adelaide live music venues.

Tristan's accolades & awards include the 2012 SA Country Music Associations 'Best Male Vocalist' & back-to-back winner & highly commended in the Songwriter's Composers & Lyricists Associations (SCALAs) National competion, the Festival of Original Music (FOOM).

Tristan also collaborates with a variety of Adelaide music identities on various live & recorded projects, so you may already have seen or heard him in one of these guises.

Tristan's exquisite story-telling will set the scene for an exciting & heart-felt journey, so come along & enjoy the ride!

'The influences of Tom Waits, C.W Stoneking and Robert Johnson are lurking in the shadows, but Newsome seems very much an innovator in his own right. It’s spaghetti western, apocalyptic and folk rolled into a captivating and threatening package'----Quiet Pop 'Zine' review

‘Tristan Newsome seems to be on a journey to discover his musical soul; “Self Preservation Society” is the next restless step on his path to enlightenment. This collection is different to what he has done before; it is probably going to be different to what he does next. Tristan is blessed with a smooth voice, the ability to write interesting observational lyrics, and a firm grasp of how to structure a song. Armed with these skills it will be interesting to see where it takes him.’ --------Music SA review ‘Gone with The Wind’

‘While there is no doubting his extensive experience on the live circuit in Adelaide has prepared him well, it is the honest emotional quality of his voice that makes this album so likeable. Couple that with his intricate storytelling and Newsome stands out as one of Adelaide’s best singersong writers going around, with Live At The Wheaty the perfect starting point for anyone yet to marvel at the Self Preservation Society.’ ----- Music SA review ‘Live at the Wheaty’
