The Sun and The Sky
Genre:Indie, Rock
The Sun & The Sky is a 4-piece rock-synth band from Adelaide. They’re like The Killers with a good dose of Placebo, but less eyeliner – so far! Attitude Magazine have described them as "the rock'n'roll version of the Presets".
Comprised of brothers Tim Pearce (Vox, Synth), Sam Pearce (Guitar, Vox), Simon Pearce (Drums) and friend Justin Pounsett (Bass, Vox), they write catchy yet dark-edged pop tunes, with influences from Joy Division, U2, White Lies, Interpol, Depeche Mode and Nine Inch Nails.
Live, the vibe is intense – a kind of brooding high energy – but the lyrics leave you feeling like things might just turn out okay after all. The sound is big enough to fill a stadium, exceptionally tight and instantly likeable with strong melodies crafted over driving, hooky beds.
Although still relatively new on the live scene The Sun & The Sky have already played with the likes of New Navy (Syd), Strange Talk (Melb), World’s End Press (Melb), The Paper Scissors (Syd), We Are Fans (Melb), Messrs (Adel) and Mammoth Logic (Adel).
In December 2011 The Sun & The Sky were selected as finalists in the Bands on Track competition to open an after-race concert at the Clipsal 500.
In January 2012 they released their 4-track debut EP “Ceremony” at an over-capacity launch at Adelaide’s The Promethean.
The band is now mixing a follow-up single and will showcase at Fuse Festival on 22 February at The Jade Monkey.
