coopers alive hailed a monster success

Updated 28 October 2010

Over 1100 people purchased tickets to see Adelaide’s brightest up and coming musicians perform as a part of Coopers Alive 2010. With all eight venues drawing great numbers across the two weekends Music SA has hailed Coopers Alive 2010 a monster success!

Comments from some of this year’s Coopers Alive artists:

Sarah Masters from Hawks Of Alba
“Coopers Alive has been a great experience for us; we have met some amazing people, learnt heaps and had a blast.”

Joel Prime from Solartricity
“Through Coopers Alive we have really learnt a lot about the business side of the music industry and how it works, plus the show on Saturday night was amazing.”

Pavlo Soterious from Phat Panda
“Massive thanks to Coopers Alive and all who played a part in putting together a superbly organised event, Phat Panda's gig at the Crown and Sceptre was a fabulous night, one of our best and most enjoyable gigs we have ever played.”

Adam Monkhouse from The Battery Kids
“Coopers Alive was great fun with great bands, great people and most importantly great music.”

Music SA General Manager Daniel Randell said “Music SA is thrilled by attendances over the two weekends of the event. It certainly reinforces our view that South Australia has some of the most talented people working within the Australian music industry, both on stage and behind the scenes.”

Music SA and Coopers Brewery partnered to create 'Coopers Alive' in 2008.  The professional development program provides emerging bands with training in marketing and promotion, along with opportunities to put their knowledge into practice at live gigs.

Music SA and Coopers Brewery were recently presented with the South Australian 2010 Australian Business Arts Foundation (AbaF) award in the SME category, for partnerships between businesses employing fewer than 200 people (globally) and arts and cultural organisations.

about coopers alive:

Coopers Alive is back for a third year in 2010, taking in eight venues across two weekends and featuring 28 of the best original South Australian bands, over 4 nights in October 2010. The artists participate in a series of workshops provided by Music SA, which focus on the crucial aspects of creating and facilitating successful live events. Each show is provided with a marketing and production budget courtesy of Coopers Brewery and The Australian Business Arts Foundation, which the artists use to create unique, one-time only shows. Previous shows have incorporated live audio and video recordings, concert lighting and video projections, guest DJs, street art, and even themed party nights.

Music SAʼs Gordon Andersen says “We have hand picked what we believe are some of the best emerging and established bands in SA, covering Acoustic/Roots, Rock, Pop, Hip-Hop, Groove, Post Rock, World Music and Metal. We believe that Coopers Alive proudly represents the quality and eclectic variety of music that’s brewing here in SAʼs own back yard.”
