Womad Earth Station Festival Announces Program 18/08/2011
Womad EARTH STATION today (18 August) unveiled more details of the prominent performers and speakers headlining its inaugural festival, to be held in the Belair National Park Adelaide from 21–23 October. Complementing the exceptional array of artists already announced, including the world-renowned Kronos Quartet, the Congo’s hypnotic Konono No 1 and Swedish singer-songwriter The Tallest Man on Earth, will be American music icon Rickie Lee Jones in her only South Australian show. The Australian String Quartet has announced the composer line-up for its National Composers' Forum, running 12-14 August 2011. Committed to fostering new Australian works by emerging composers, the Australian String Quartet (ASQ) hosted a pilot Composers' Forum in 2009, with Adelaide University. Proving so successful they expanded nationally in 2010 and this year its National Composers' Forum, held at The University of Adelaide 12-14 August, attracted a staggering 33 submissions from across Australia.
