The Music SA board has pleasure in announcing its new General Manager, with the role going to musician, skilled administrator, IT professional and vocational trainer Kim Roberts.

An active member of the local music community for the last 20 years, Ms Roberts has experience including artist management, festival work and music media. If she’s not performing in one of her two bands or broadcasting on community radio, Ms Roberts is attending gigs at local pubs.

Ms Roberts will take up her new post as General Manager of the state’s leading contemporary music organisation in July 2020.

Ms Roberts says “I’m really looking forward to working with the board, the Music SA team and the wider music community.  As a long-standing advocate for local music, I’m genuinely excited to drive initiatives that promote, support and develop the local contemporary music industry“.

For the last two years Ms Roberts has worked as Head of Training at Music SA,  specialising in curriculum development, e-learning and teaching of nationally accredited certificate level courses.

Music SA Chair Anne Wiberg is thrilled that after a fiercely competitive recruitment process the board decided on an internal applicant.

Ms Wiberg says “Kim is well known to us and widely respected within the industry. Her  appointment marks a new chapter for Music SA.  At a time when the industry is facing some very big challenges, I am confident that Kim will be able to provide both continuity and new directions for the organisation.”

Ms Roberts is relieving present CEO Lisa Bishop who was appointed to the role in January 2015.

Ms Wiberg says: “The significant work Lisa has done over her 5 years with our organisation has put Music SA in a strong position for Kim to take up the reins, and we wish Lisa the very best with her future endeavours.”

Minister for Innovation and Skills David Pisoni said: “Thank you to Lisa Bishop for her hard work and dedication over the past five years, and congratulations to Kim Roberts on her appointment as Music SA’s new General Manager in what will be a critical time for South Australia’s music industry. I look forward to Kim’s contribution to Music SA, as she works in partnership with the State Government’s Music Development Office, to support and develop musicians and music businesses across the state.”
