Luke Dale has a Bachelor of Laws (with Honours) and a Bachelor of Commerce (majoring in Marketing and Management) from the University of Adelaide.

Luke returned to Kelly & Co. in 2005 after working in the Corporate division of a national law firm. Prior to that, Luke spent 2 years in London working as an in-house IP lawyer for a large multinational company, and as Head of Legal & Business Affairs for Zeal Television Ltd, an international television production company based in the UK. Luke originally trained and worked at Kelly & Co. as a solicitor for a number of years before moving to the UK.

In the course of his time spent in-house, Luke gained significant expertise in all aspects of UK and European intellectual property, media and entertainment law.

Luke practices in the areas of corporate and commercial law, with a particular focus on intellectual property law, media and entertainment law, corporate governance and restructuring, and trade practices issues including franchising, competition and consumer protection. Luke also specialises in the area of music law, and his practice includes national and international clients including artists, bands, managers, record companies, music publishers and television clients.

Luke is well versed in the negotiation and preparation of all music industry agreements including management agreements, recording agreements, licence agreements, distribution agreements, publishing agreements, release documentation, performance agreements, and promoters agreements.

Luke has experience dealing with numerous record companies and publishing companies, as well as a range of other individuals and organisations involved in the music and entertainment industry, locally, interstate and overseas.

Luke is a member of the Law Society of South Australia and the Intellectual Property Society of Australia and New Zealand, and has also been a member of the Producers Alliance for Cinema and Television (UK), the Producers Rights Agency (UK), the Trade Marks Patents and Designs Federation (UK), the Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys (UK), and the Licensing Executives Society.
